Campaigns – Composites Asian exports

Support for entry into Asian markets

The issue

Australia has developed significant advanced composite technologies that promise to transform manufacturing processes and improve environmental performance however the local market is small. The industry believes there are opportunities to enter Asian markets that are looking for solutions that will deliver on their objectives. Support was needed to improve knowledge of the nearby Asian markets and to facilitate linkages with key decision-makers in the target markets.

The solution

On behalf of Composites Australia and with the support of the Cooperative Research Centre for Advanced Composite Structures (CRC-ACS), Apical successfully gained funding from the Australian Government under Austrade’s Asian Business Engagement Plan to:

  • develop background data on the size, scope, prospects and policies for identified market sectors
  • brief the Australian composites industry on the market research findings
  • match the capabilities of Australian advanced composite manufacturers and R&D organisations with identified opportunities
  • lead a trade mission of export-ready manufacturers and R&D organisations to meet with the relevant peak industry bodies in Malaysia and Indonesia.

The initiative targets the automotive, aerospace, oil & gas, infrastructure and ground transport sectors in Malaysia and Indonesia.
